Type 1 Diabetes, Diet and Gut Health
I'm copying my personal notes here, that I've been sharing with other parents. I want to make sure they have access to this info quickly. I won't expand much on them right now, but I'll return later to write more about each item. My son was diagnosed in May 2020. In the middle of COVID, such a scary experience. One month after hospital stay he entered partial remission, then almost total remission. He's currently on 0 (zero) to 1(one) units of daily Humalog as needed and no daily basal insulin. He started with 11 units of Lantus and about 10-11 units of Humalog daily. We are are are WFPBLO (whole food plant based low oil) and one thing I wish I could do right off Diagnosis was get him tested for food sensitivities . The hospital ordered some blood tests at diagnosis, for Celiac, the problem is those tests are not very sensitive. I believe he was missed.
